Books and Bites at North East ISD is back on the road this summer. In its second year, the program delivers free lunches to several pre-determined neighborhoods within the NEISD boundaries in a school bus turned mobile café. The program has a new offering this year thanks to several generous business donors. Bags of produce purchased from the San Antonio Food Bank will provide families a bag of fruits and vegetables.
The intent of this program is to reach children in communities that may not have access to meals during the summer. In addition to meals, District librarians helped children check out books for summer reading.
Produce purchased from the San Antonio Food Bank made possible with donations from Security Service Credit Union, Firstmark Credit Union, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Martinez, Nautical Dental and Dr. Eric D. Cornelius, Southwest Academic Solutions, and Janet Ritz.
