Cibolo Green Elementary opened its doors in 2010. The fifth-grade students who attended Cibolo Green during its inaugural year are now graduating, and many are seniors at Johnson High School. These students were invited back to walk the Cibolo Green halls one last time.
Watching the students walk the halls wearing graduation caps was a great opportunity for Cibolo Green elementary students. They were able to experience how important and exciting it is to continue their education in order to create a bright future for themselves.
“The students enjoyed seeing the students wear their caps, especially after we talked about how it could be them in just a few years,” said Aimee Kelly, a fourth-grade teacher at Cibolo Green. “I asked my students why this was a special event for them, and one answered, ‘They were able to finish middle school and high school, so their futures will be brighter because they will receive their high school diplomas. It makes us want to keep working hard so we can be like them one day.’”
Before walking the halls, former teachers were able to meet with the seniors to chat and take photos. Even the Cibolo Green mascot got in on the fun, leading the seniors’ way down the halls.
“The smiles and tears by both the teachers and students made it clear that our campus’s first senior breakfast certainly won’t be our last,” said Aimee.
