Submitted By Cindy Cardenas
Congratulations to Parker Allen and Ashton Kordas, two of Mrs. Volz art students at Lopez Middle School, who have earned prestigious awards for their work.
Parker Allen earned national recognition in the 2018 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Parker has been identified by panels of creative professionals as one of the most talented young artists in the nation. This year, nearly 350,000 works of art and writing were submitted. Less than one percent were recognized at the national level. Parker has been invited to attend a ceremony at the world-famous Carnegie Hall on Thursday, June 7 and her artwork will be on display at a gallery in New York.
Lopez is also excited to announce that Ashton Kordas was awarded winner of the Eighth Grade NEISD Portfolio competition for the 2018 school year. Ashton submitted eight pieces and received a perfect score on each. One of the judges commented, “I couldn’t choose a favorite, they were all so good.” Ashton’s work is showcased at the NEISD Night Gallery.
Congratulations to these fine Lopez Art Students, and their teacher, Mrs. Volz.
