Free American Sign Language Course Open To All

Submitted By Tim Kitterman

This fall, the MacArthur High School American Sign Language (ASL) Honor Society will conduct a free eight-week series of Sign Language classes for all ages. The series will begin on Sunday, October 1, and take place every Sunday afternoon until November 19, from 3-4 p.m. at Brook Hollow Library. This is the fifth year that the MacArthur ASL Honor Society will be teaching the series as a part of their community service.

“We have been conducting these classes as a service to anyone who has deaf friends or family, people who come in contact with deaf people at work, and people who are just fascinated by the language and have always wanted to take a class,” said Tim Kitterman, Foreign Language/ASL teacher at MacArthur. “Everyone is welcome and will learn the basics of communicating with deaf people as well as learn some basic information about deaf culture.”

Brook Hollow Library is located at 530 Heimer Road. The series is open to all ages, young and old. For more information, contact Tim Kitterman at 210-685-3708 or email
