Spring Into The Wilderness

You’re invited! On March 2 from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wilderness Oak Elementary will host its Fifth Annual Spring into the Wilderness Festival! The festival will include fun for the whole family including rides, games, a cake walk, food trucks, a silent auction, and new this year, an informative Camp Expo. Spring into Wilderness is a free event open to the public.

This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever! In fact, it will take over the entire Wilderness Oak campus. Enjoy food vendors and food trucks in the front of the school while listening to the talented School of Rock Band. A rockin’ DJ and more carnival rides than ever before, including a 100-foot slide and a Mindwider, can be found in the back field. Dodgeball and ball toss games will take place in the gym, and just outside you will find a toddler bounce house, face painting, a ring toss and more. Finally, a silent auction featuring awesome prizes including auto detailing packages, scuba diving course, salon gift certificates, tutoring services, and summer camp packages from Camp Expo participants will take place in the school’s skybridge.

Camp Expo, a new addition to this year’s festival, will be held in the school lobby and downstairs hallways. Camp Expo will provide families a one-stop shop to learn about many of the summer camps and other kid-friendly activities available throughout our city. There will be many different types of camps in attendance including sports, arts, museums, and more!

Leighanne Reynolds, a parent volunteer, explains the sheer magnitude of the event.

“The entire school is transformed into a carnival which is so much fun for the kids and adults,” she said. “I also love to see members of the community from outside of our school getting to experience the awesome culture at Wilderness Oak.”

This year, Wilderness Oak also held a contest for students to design this year’s festival t-shirt. The winning design was submitted by a very talented fourth grader.

Proceeds from the Spring Festival, Camp Expo and Silent Auction help fund family engagement events, special programs such as guest author visits, and ongoing student enrichment needs at Wilderness Oak. For more information, email wildernessoakpta@gmail.com.
