The 52nd annual Military Ball of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, held February 4 at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort, broke a school record for attendance at the formal event celebrating the school’s Corps of Cadets (JROTC).
“It was a wonderful evening!” said Monica Velasco, who chaired the volunteer Military Ball Committee “More than 850 students and adults attended to honor this year’s senior cadets. This is by far the highest attendance we have ever had, worthy of our Corps of Cadets.”
Victoria Flener, a senior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, was one of 74 area students chosen to receive a Valero Alamo Bowl scholarship to the colleges of their choice.
Recipients from public and private schools were honored at the Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarship Awards Luncheon, presented by H-E-B on December 14, 2016, at Sunset Station and were recognized on the field during the first quarter of the Alamo Bowl, held December 29, 2016, in the Alamodome. Their awards will total $575,000, anticipated to be the top mark in local scholarship giving among all 40 bowls.
Elizabeth Holmes, a senior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, won first place in the school’s fifth annual Poetry Out Loud recitation contest, held Nov. 28 in the school’s Margaret M. Alkek Theater. Runner-up was sophomore Bridget Lynch.
Winners of school contest will compete at the state level Feb. 25, 2017, at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin.
